Christ is knocking to see if anybody is home

Revelation 3:20. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

I think that one of the coolest things about the Bible is that it shows that God is never done pursuing us. I heard Chaplain Whiz Broome from the Pentagon give a lecture series about Revelation. He asked a great question, “what is the most important verse in the book of Revelation?” To me, it has to be 3:20. God is always in search of us. Up until the very end of time…when He returns, he is still knocking. But you have to answer!! The great thing about thinking about your dash…is that no one knows the second date. Don’t wait…answer God’s knocking right now. What is holding you back? What is it that makes a loving God’s call to come and fellowship with Him unappealing? We make it so hard…and God makes it so easy. There are no second chances after you leave this world. Don’t believe the lie that there is.

Billy Graham spoke at the National Cathedral at the 9/11 memorial service. He said something that I have never forgotten. I will paraphrase it, but he basically said that he is often asked how God could allow something like that to happen? He said, “I don’t have an answer for that…at least not one to my own satisfaction.” (At first I thought…no way man!! You are Billy Graham…you have been doing this stuff for 70 years…how can YOU not know). But he followed that up with, but I do know this…there is not one person who died that day, that woke up that morning knowing for sure that this was their last day on earth.

Let that sink in…and answer God’s knocking. He loves you, and He wants to fellowship with you…and He is asking for you to let Him in. He will change your life…and will bless you with His abundant grace. He will wipe every tear away, and restore you! Remember, you will never wake up and know “for sure” that this is or is not…your last day on earth. So why wait, accept God’s promise today!
