Yesterday, I was driving down several of our country’s great interstate highways. My family and I were returning to DC after a wonderful time with friends and family in West Virginia. It was a great weekend (other than my West Virginia Mountaineers loss to Syracuse in football, my Philadelphia Phillies not making it to the [...] This past weekend I went hiking on a segment of the Appalachian Trail with some great men. The terrain was pretty tough…hilly and rocky…and took a great amount of concentration to focus on the obstacles on the ground so someone wouldn’t end up tripping and doing a face plant. So we glued our eyes to [...] I met with a friend of mine the other day…a good friend…and one that I trust like a brother (do you have any of those?). I trust him, because I know him…and he is a man after God’s heart….again, do you have any of those? How do I know he is after God’s heart? Because [...] I just got back from a “Men’s Offensive” (men never retreat…hey…blame it on my army friends) with our Men’s Ministry at Church…and let me tell you, if you have never done that…you are missing a life changing experience. We run run run….and work work work…and we are exhausted. Do you know that about 100 years [...] It’s late, but then again that’s why God gave us coffee to drink in the morning (for which I am extremely thankful!) So tomorrow me and about 80+ guys will trek on out to the beautiful Maryland highlands to spend some time together. During this time we’ll build friendships, relax, go hiking, play some football, [...] I had a great opportunity to have a cup of coffee with a friend of mine this morning. He and I are in transitional points of our life…as many of you are. Scary isn’t it? I mean…how will we eat? How will we feed our kids? Am I going to die? Congratulations…you are right where [...] You know…we make this S-O-O-O hard…oh my…God is asking me to do something…I can’t…I’m not qualified…blah…blah..blah. I just met with a friend of mine today and he is going through a transition, and it reminded me about the first time that we met. We were working on jumpstarting the Men’s Ministry at our Church, [...] You don’t have to tell me if you “feel” guilty…it is easy to read on your face. But get over it…consider this well known story…John 8:1-11 about a woman “caught” in adultery. You could talk about this story for the rest of your life, and still only partially understand the grace that is behind it. [...] |
