Men…I have been out of psalms for a little bit…which is strange because I love reading them so much. David’s life…the ups and downs drip from the ink of his pen, and God has preserved them for us.
BLUF? If you aren’t in season…you better ask yourself why! There is not much time left in your dash. Every street sign in life is urging you to walk away…that temptation should decrease when you read, and contemplate what God says.
Psalm 1:1 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
note: Interesting the way that it is phrased…because the first thing you need to do is turn away from the path of the ungodly…THEN…God will send you the godly men that you need. Whether it is Moses, Joshua, Abraham, or the thieves on the cross. God asks one simple question; yes or no? Will follow me? or will you follow the world? Interesting that God doesn’t beg you to say yes, but He gives you clear evidence that “yes” is the right answer.
Okay, so back to Psalm 1. Why yes? Read on brother…
Psalm 1:2-3 – But his delight is the lawof the Lord, And in His law he mediates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
Note: This is not a name it claim it thing…this is God’s promise. BIG DIFFERENCE. God tells us if you say “yes” to him, he will write his law on your heart…not to make life tough, but exactly the opposite…to make your life abundant with joy! He will send you the godly men that you need to encourage you on. I have Ron, Andy, and Chuck…just to name a few…but when God plants you by “rivers of water” you will have all of the nutrients, all of the watering, all of the resources to do God’s will, which is what He designed you for. AND…when you are focused on that, He will bring forth fruit from the things that you do, and others around you will be amazed at how richly you are blessed. BTW…that doesn’t mean “money” and “things” although it might. But it DOES mean, richness of life.
Men…get in the game, and start bearing fruit! Only God knows the length of your dash. We are but a vapor (James 4:13-14), and we were put here to bear fruit…fruit for God (Ephesians 2:8-10). Get at it…and I will too! Thanks for reading!
