It’s my fault…now can we move on?

Day 13

If anybody has ever been on a team, or been on a staff (my condolences), there are many times that we hit a road block, and everything comes to a screeching halt until we figure out what happened…and who was responsible.  I have had times when I sat through hours of meetings to determine what happened.  I have written many papers, emails, etc. about what happened…and why.  I have given presentations about what happened, why it happened… and then I proceeded to jump out the window…daily.  Unfortunately, I had a second floor office, and people would just look at my curiously and wonder why I did that every day.  BTW…I didn’t actually jump….but thought about it often.

And then I realized the answer to it all.  Admit that “I” was guilty…it was my fault…I take full responsibility.  The funny thing was that I very seldom had anything at all to do with the issue, and the boss would ask why I would say that it was my fault…blame me.  The answer was…I was tired of figuring out who to blame, so it took a lot less time to just blame me.  I got many strange looks…like normal…but the key to all of this was that we got to move on to something else.

It doesn’t matter what happened yesterday…it matters what we are going to do today!  The bible makes it easy.  PLEASE MEMORIZE THIS VERSERomans 3:23 – we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. So we are all at fault…if not of this issue (whatever it is) of something else.  So lets figure out how to put that in the rear view mirror….and focus on what we should be doing today.  Or better yet, focus on what God wants us to do today.

Okay Dan…so you are saying that nobody should be blamed, because nobody is perfect?  Absolutely not…in fact, my recommendation is to fire everybody….everyday, because I am sure that they have done something wrong.  I just don’t know who a good judge is….oh wait, I do.  It is God.  That memory verse above…well I forgot to add verse 24.  Try this on for size.  Romans 3:23-24 – 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

The point…is be encouraged.  WE have all been “justified” by Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for “our” sins….on the cross of crucifixion.  So because we have been granted grace…freely….and richly…and abundantly. We can spend time showing grace to others…instead of figuring out who to blame.

If you want to fire somebody…you can fire me…if that will make you feel better.  My email address is  Just make sure that you send me my severance pay….I could sure use it.

Be encouraged…and may you all be filled with God’s grace and His peace.

About Dan

My name is Dan. I grew up on the lovely Eastern Shore of Maryland...go Colonels! God really got a hold of me a few years back and asked me when I was going to "get in the game" and start living my life for Him. I have been burdened with the fact that many...many men in our world are wasting their lives while God wants them in the game. This is one of the ways that I am giving them that challenge...our nation, and our world depends on it. So thanks for your support...and your prayers. Dan
