I have had quite a few people that were close to me die recently…and when you hear about that, or when I hear about people on TV that die… my mind has one comment; I hope they were ready. That may sound cruel and insensitive, but that is really the only thing that matters…being ready.
Because when you die…that is it…over…finito. So if you aren’t ready…it is too late. Sadly, we have allowed Satan to infiltrate us with lies like: there is no hell, people can pray for you after you are dead, we are all going to the same place….etc., etc.
But according to the bible….not according to Dan…here is what happens: Hebrews 9:27 - And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.
Well that is pretty straight forward. But the real important point…and the encouragement, is that you can ensure what happens right now. Revelation 3:20 is one of my favorite verses….because it shows that God never gives up on you.
Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
To put it even more simply….Jesus says, all you have to do is hear that voice, to feel that draw to God that I placed on your heart…and respond to it. I will take care of the rest. Now that is encouraging…and does it get any more simple than that?
But there is a time when it is “too late.” Don’t let that happen to you…or to anybody that you know. Because Jesus is knocking for all of us…and we hear it. Now open the door and let Him in….you will NEVER regret it.
