Tell Peter….God is in the details

Day 58

A couple days ago…I highlighted Peter at the Last Supper…where Christ called him out, and told him that Satan demanded to sift him like wheat. http://whatsyourdash.com/blog/2012/04/07/so-you-blew-it-god-can-still-use-you/

I just want to let you know that God is concerned about each individual person.  He knows our strengths, and our weaknesses….He knows the trials that we are going through.  And He loves us right where we are.  If you are wondering, consider the resurrection story.  In the disciples eyes….Jesus is dead.  The ride is over…He was crucified…and they let it happen…because they ran when they should have fought. And tough guy Peter not only did that…but he denied even  knowing Jesus.  Let’s face it…he was probably in the depths of depression, and he probably wanted to disappear.  The great thing about God…He won’t let us wallow in our own self pity.

The story is found in Mark16:3-7 – 2Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. 3They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4Looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large. 5Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed. 6And he said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. 7But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’”

I added the emphasis in the passage for effect.   The angel took the time to pick out Peter.  Why not Matthew, John, and the rest of them?  Because God knew that Peter was probably taking it harder than the rest of them…because strong, brash Peter was the toughest guy of the bunch.  And tough guys break the hardest.  And I would assume that Peter wouldn’t be hanging out with the rest of the disciples because of embarrassment.  So God wanted to make sure that if he wasn’t there…that they found him to tell him the news that Jesus was alive.

It is no different with us.  God knows the details of your life.  He knows that we have messed up numerous times…but He still wants to use us…but we need to let Him find us.  Peter very easily could have just said no, go away…but he knew that there was something that was drawing him back.  That something was Jesus…Peter had to see him again if it was true.

That is the God shaped hole in our heart that draws us back to Him….if we don’t harden our hearts.

God tells us in Hebrews 3:7-9 – Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.

So be encouraged…no matter where you are…God cares enough about you to send the message of restoration to you personally.  It may come through a friend, a pastor, the radio…via TV. Who knows?  But when you hear that voice….it is the Holy Spirit calling you back.

Remember…He keeps knocking….now open the door!  Your life will be blessed beyond measure if you will just respond.

Grace and Peace, Dan

About Dan

My name is Dan. I grew up on the lovely Eastern Shore of Maryland...go Colonels! God really got a hold of me a few years back and asked me when I was going to "get in the game" and start living my life for Him. I have been burdened with the fact that many...many men in our world are wasting their lives while God wants them in the game. This is one of the ways that I am giving them that challenge...our nation, and our world depends on it. So thanks for your support...and your prayers. Dan
