Answer me speedily Lord…

Day 140

There are those times in life where you just say….I can’t take it any more.  Considering that we live in the richest country in the world…and maybe the richest in history it is strange that we are so unwilling to help anybody else.  We have bought in to the lie that if we toss a couple of bucks at the problem, then it will go away and we can pat ourselves on the back about what wonderful friends we have been…and what powerful Christians we are….Oh how PROUD God must be of me….that makes me sick.  And I have adopted that position many times myself.

Because there are times that nothing but human interaction can help.  There are times when we are at the end of our rope.  There are times where we are getting beat up by Satan and if feels like we are in a washing machine.  And then David reminds us that he felt like that too….I think the best Psalm in the world for the desperate (at least those who will admit it), is Psalm 143.

Psalm 143:1-2 – Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness. 2 Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous. (NKJV)

No man living is righteous…that is powerful.  Nobody deserves you God…but I am still crying out to you to listen.  I am dying here!

Psalm 143:3-4 – 3 For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in darkness, Like those who have long been dead. 4 Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed. (NKJV)

I am dying here Lord…I am crushed….and I can’t take it….help!

Psalm 143:7 – 7 Answer me speedily, O Lord; My spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.(NKJV)

I can’t take it Lord….I don’t want to be like those who are lost and away from you….help!

Psalm 143:8-10 – 8 Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You. 9 Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; In You I take shelter.10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. (NKJV)

How refreshing is that when we turn it over to God.  When we tell Him that we know that HE has the right path for us. How refreshing it is when we tell him that we need to trust in Him.

Be encouraged, because here is the best part….because when we  actually turn stuff over to Him….He will RESTORE US!

Psalm 143:11-12 – 11 Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake! For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. 12 In Your mercy cut off my enemies, And destroy all those who afflict my soul; For I am Your servant. (NKJV)

Be encouraged…we can’t…HE CAN!  He wants us to see joy on our face…don’t think so?  Read on…

Job 33:26 –  He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him, He shall see His face with joy, For He restores to man His righteousness.

Grace and Peace, Dan
