There are some times when you just want to get moving in a certain direction, and you really want God to put you in the game, and then very quickly….you are overcome with yourself and your weaknesses. In other words, you say, “how in the world could I ever do that?” And that little seed of doubt paralyses you enough to miss an opportunity…it is then that we are blessed to have psalms that just lay it all out.
Psalm 125 is one of those…and it is a great meditation for doubt…
Psalm 125 – Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever. 2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. 3 For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest upon the land of the righteous, so that the righteous will not put forth their hands to do wrong. 4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good and to those who are upright in their hearts. 5 But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord will lead them away with the doers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.
It is really pretty simple. God says if you trust in Him…you are as strong as a mountain. And barring an earthquake of cataclysmic proportions….they aren’t going any where. So that is the way that God surrounds those who are doing His will. And through that…we have that same strength.
In our world we hear that we should, “believe in ourselves”. Gosh, I hope not….because I know that I would let myself down…I do it all of the time. I would prefer to do it the way that Jesus says it….
John 14:1 – “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. (NASB)
Be encouraged…you are as strong as a mountain! And that strength will be with you today, tomorrow…and forever, if you will turn it over to God and leave the consequences to Him.
Grace and peace, Dan
