I realized today that I haven’t been as thankful as I should to you all who have encouraged me, not only through this year, but throughout my life. I think that is because sometimes we forget to remember. I ran across someone today who writes a blog, and he said that he was trying to be positive, but it was really hard…because he didn’t feel like it.
I told him that some days…those are the best times to write something because far too often we try to pretend like everything is going great…but it isn’t. And when we do that, we prevent others from coming in and helping. And when we share pain along with joy…others who are in pain can realize that it isn’t just them.
I took on this project, or commitment, or whatever because God laid it on my heart that my goal this year was to encourage others…and there are a lot of days that was a struggle, because I just didn’t feel like it. Through the course of a year, we have highs and lows…we have joy and sadness…and we have days that we want people close, and we have days where we want to be left alone.
But that is the way life is. But that is why this is one of my favorite verses…and it comes from the book of Job….and let’s face it…he has some bad days….
Job 5:7-9 – 7For man is born for trouble, as sparks fly upward. 8“But as for me, I would seek God, and I would place my cause before God; 9Who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number. (NASB)
The word “wonders” is actually the word, PALA. The definition of PALA is that there are things that God does, so that we know that ONLY God could do it, and that is one of the many ways that He reminds us that we are NOT God.
So be encouraged. You don’t have to try to be God. You don’t have to pretend like life isn’t tough some days. All you have to do is let God be God.
AND…thanks for all of the times that you have taken the time to comment on this blog, and drop me a note from time to time. It means more to me than words can describe. And I am thankful to God that He is with me always…
Matthew 28:18-20 – 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them ina the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV)
Grace and Peace, Dan
