Christians don’t have an Opus…

Day 286

I just got finished watching one of my favorite movies, “Mr. Holland’s Opus.” I think that I like it so much because while we trudge through life, we like to think that someone…somewhere…cares that we exist.

We want to have life of meaning. That is the great thing about God. If we have accepted Christ, we will never have an Opus. We won’t have a great work that we can look back on, because we will never be done.

Whoa Dan…sounds like Heaven is work? Nope…well, I guess it is…but it is work that we are given as a reward for the work that we did on earth. In other words…it is going to be work that is easy…but rewarding…and totally satisfying. I have to admit…it is a little confusing…but if God is who He says He is (and He is!), then that is the way that it works.

So for Christians….God has prepared works for us to do…which will train us for the work that we will be doing for eternity….

Ephesians 2:6-10 – 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV)

Be encouraged…you won’t ever have to sit back and see if anybody cared if you lived…or cared about what you did. God DOES care…and He knows what you did…because He prepared it for you to do!

And by the way…all of Heaven will rejoice at the good things that you have done….that sure beats a high school auditorium full of people!

Grace and Peace, Danb

About Dan

My name is Dan. I grew up on the lovely Eastern Shore of Maryland...go Colonels! God really got a hold of me a few years back and asked me when I was going to "get in the game" and start living my life for Him. I have been burdened with the fact that many...many men in our world are wasting their lives while God wants them in the game. This is one of the ways that I am giving them that challenge...our nation, and our world depends on it. So thanks for your support...and your prayers. Dan

One Response to Christians don’t have an Opus…

That is one of my favorite films as well. I never get tired of it and to see the impact he made on so many people throughout his teaching career.
