Why does God plead for us to come back?

Day 323

Why does God plead for us to come back to Him?  Because He loves us.  Done.  Blog complete.  Have a wonderful day.

That really is the answer…and that is the totality of the discussion.  BUT…it is so critical to know that God desperately pleads for us to return to Him?  Why?  Because walking away from Him is disastrous to us…apart from God, we can do nothing!  Apart from God, we will live in darkness…pain…and despair.

Sadly, many have bought in to the lie that God is some sort of mean, cruel, cosmic kill joy who just sits there desiring to make our lives miserable if we don’t bow to His every wish.

But let me break some news to you….God doesn’t NEED us….He WANTS us.  By God’s own definition, He is complete without us….but He created us…because He wanted to. I have no idea why…using me as an example…I am a pain in the butt.  But He did it anyway….wow…

What father would want that?  If anybody reads this, and is a father…they KNOW that there is a constant desire to protect, comfort, and bless their children…that is the way that we are designed!  And God IS our Father!  Jesus says it best….

Matthew 7:7-11 – 7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.8“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9“Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10“Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! (NASB)

Through and through, the bible God pleads us to return…so why do we have a hard time doing that?  Because that often if not always causes us to WAIT!  And we hate waiting…we want it NOW…and often God gives it to us now…so we can see how bad our plan is.  Here is a verse that I ran across today in the book of Hosea…which is all about how God deals with a nation that continually walks away from Him.  And if you are paying attention….it sounds a lot (like exactly), like the United States of America.

Hosea 12:6 – Therefore, return to your God, Observe kindness and justice, And wait for your God continually. (NASB)

And that is why Jesus wept when He triumphantly went in to Jerusalem on the way to the cross…for you…and ME.  By the way, I wonder if He weeps for the USA exactly like this today…

Luke 19:41-44 – 41When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, 42saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. 43“For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, 44and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

Be encouraged….God pleads for all of us to come back.  No matter what you have or haven’t done….the times when you didn’t forgive, and you didn’t observe kindness and justice….and the times when you didn’t wait for God…He is STILL pleading for you to come back.  Do it today.  You will never regret it…

Grace and Peace, dan

About Dan

My name is Dan. I grew up on the lovely Eastern Shore of Maryland...go Colonels! God really got a hold of me a few years back and asked me when I was going to "get in the game" and start living my life for Him. I have been burdened with the fact that many...many men in our world are wasting their lives while God wants them in the game. This is one of the ways that I am giving them that challenge...our nation, and our world depends on it. So thanks for your support...and your prayers. Dan

One Response to Why does God plead for us to come back?

  1. Chuck says:

As the song says Dan, “HE is jealous for me…”
The Bible, from cover to cover, is about God’s relentless pursuit (and struggle) for us. As William Wilberforce supposedly stated, “I didn’t find God. He found me.” What other belief system can boast such an amazing claim…more so such amazing love? The truth is that there is none that can measure to this and that is what makes our God real.
